From 20’s skincare to now, we have made it all the way to the finale of the Decade by Decade series: 60’s skincare.
The 60’s is a time for reflection. You’ve accomplished a lot in your life, but there’s still more you want to do. Your priorities may start to change as your wisdom tells you to stress less and place more focus on the important things.
The 60’s decade is when you really reap the benefits of a lifetime of good skincare because your skin will have retained its radiance and youthfulness better than those who didn’t take such great care of their skin. Not to mention, you’ll have less wrinkles, age spots, and sagging. Still, that doesn’t mean skincare should stop at this age. Use these tips to maintain healthy skin in your 60’s.
Your skin during the 60’s age has experienced intense moisture loss and needs some extra help restoring hydration. I recommend moisturizing up to twice a day, depending on how dry your skin is.

Interfere Less with Your Skin’s Natural Barrier
Reduce moisture loss by avoiding interfering with your skin’s natural barrier. Your skin’s surface is made up of fatty acids and elasticity that keep the skin from sagging or drying out. Some cleansers are too harsh and will strip your skin of this natural barrier, causing moisture loss and damage. Use a cleanser that is gentle, and only wash your face once a day before bed. Cleansing the skin too often also damages the barrier.

Eat Your Veggies
Foods rich in vitamin A and vitamin E promote new cell growth in the surface layers of the skin, which keeps skin radiant and younger-looking. Eating vegetables such as sweet potatoes, avocado, spinach, and red peppers will not only make you healthier and feel great, but they’ll make your skin look great too.
Protect Yourself from the Sun
At this age, not protecting your skin from the sun earlier in life starts to really show. Don’t stop protecting yourself now, though. The sun can still cause more damage and premature aging, not to mention skin cancer. It is never too late to start shielding those harmful rays. Stay in the shade, wear a hat and use sunblock regularly.
60’s skincare is all about retaining the hydration in the skin. Drinking plenty of water is an easy but also key method to keeping up moisture levels as you age. Staying hydrated helps to restore the skin’s fat layer, which helps keep the skin’s firmness and elasticity.
Thank you all for following this Decade by Decade series. Remember that you are beautiful at any age and a lifetime of laughter and happiness always shows in your skin and overall health. Laugh more, live courageously, and your beauty will shine its brightest.
