Got Lashes?

Do you dream of long, thick eyelashes? Let’s make it a reality.

Got lashes? Nothing changes the face and accentuates the eyes like long, thick, coquettish lashes. But not all of us were lucky enough to be born with them or at least be able to keep them past childhood.

There are a number of ways to enhance your lashes, the most obvious of which is mascara. But maybe you don’t like wearing makeup every day or maybe you don’t prefer the stiff, unnatural look of so many mascaras. Not to mention what happens to mascara when you go to a sad movie, sweat too much at the gym, or have to endure a hot, humid day.

Here are a few ways to achieve more natural looking lashes, no mascara added.

Eyelash Tinting
This is a relatively inexpensive way to achieve darker, natural looking lashes. A protective pad is placed under the lower lashes to protect the skin below and Vaseline is applied around the eye area to keep the dye from bleeding into the eye. Dye is applied to the upper and lower lashes and left on to set for about 15-20 minutes while eyes remain closed. The eye is wiped clean with damp cotton pads and then rinsed with saline solution.

Time: 5-10 minutes per eye for application plus 15-20 minutes for processing.
Lasts: Depends on how much time you spend in the sun, sweating, showering, but it can last up to 6 weeks.
Cost: $30-$60
PROS: A natural, long-lasting look, tinting will make your lashes appear darker and thicker.
CONS: Tinting does nothing to lengthen lashes. If eyes aren’t protected properly, dye can leak into the eye causing stinging and tearing and can keep the dye from setting. Make sure the salon you go to uses animal based dyes, which are less toxic and can’t cause blindness.

Eyelash Extensions
If you want a really dramatic effect, say for a special event, eyelashes extensions can’t be beat. Eyelash extensions are individual lashes, made of silk, mink, or something synthetic, that are attached to your existing lashes semi-permanently. Because each extension is attached to individual lash, they are highly customizable in terms of length, thickness, and curl. The application process is totally painless and even relaxing–all you have to do is lie there with your eyes closed–but it is time consuming. Like hair extensions, once you get eyelash extensions you will start to notice all the other people who have them. They’re pretty addictive.
Time: 90 minutes to 2 hours
Lasts: 2-3 weeks or longer if you can avoid getting anything with oil near the eye.
Cost: $200 and up
PROS: These are the lashes you’ve always dreamed of.
CONS: Super expensive and time consuming . Even though “touch ups” are less expensive than the initial process, it’s not cheap. Also, the extensions don’t come out, but our eyelashes naturally shed at all different times. If you don’t get touch ups, you end up with odd patterns of long lashes between short ones. Also, you will hate your short lashes once the extensions come out. Finally, be sure the salon you choose uses glue that is non-toxic. Some people are allergic to the glue, so if you have any kind of reaction, have the lashes removed right away.

GrandeLASH-MD
There are a lot of hair-growth products on the market that are used for stimulating follicles to produce longer, thicker lashes, but after a long search, I chose GrandeLASH-MD. First of all, it’s won many awards for its proprietary blend of vitamins, peptides, amino acids and conditioners. It doesn’t irritate the eye like some of these products can. It comes with a money back guarantee and all of my clients love it! You will see longer, thicker lashes within 4-6 weeks.
Time: 10 seconds to apply each night before you go to bed.
Cost: $64.95
Lasts: Forever, as long as you remember to apply!
PROS: These are the lashes you’ve always dreamed of—and they’re your own. It’s considerably less expensive than any of the alternatives and it’s the most natural of all the looks because it results in long, thick, all natural eyelashes!
CONS: I honestly can’t think of anything negative about this product. You just have to remember to apply before bed each night.
