Heaven on Earth says Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring
Spring’s just around the corner, even for those of us in Aspen who are still seeing snow. And that means I start thinking about Spring Cleaning. You’ll like my kind of Spring Cleaning. I’m not talking about cleaning out your closest or scrubbing floors. But actually decluttering and rearranging your skincare products. Yep, it’s time to keep what you use and toss what you don’t.
Here are some “Spring Cleaning Questions” to ask yourself when going through your skincare products:
When’s the last time I used this?
As an esthetician and skincare addict, it’s my duty and job to stay on top of the skin trends. This means I’ve had to learn to weed out my products – otherwise, I’d be on the “Hoarders” TV show. New one in, old one out, and you need to do the same. Ask yourself, when’s the last time I used this? If you can’t answer or if it has been a long time, it’s time to say goodbye.
When did I open this?
This is one area I see many not even think twice about, using skincare products that have been opened for years, YUCK! Bottom line, if you don’t know when you opened it, pitch it. I mean, you wouldn’t eat something out of the fridge that you had no idea when you opened it, would you?
Other Things to Consider When Determining If Your Skincare Has Expired
There are some clear signs that a product needs to be thrown away, such as:
- Its consistency has changed
- It’s separated
- It feels different on the skin
- And a true red flag, it has a strange odor – Pee-ew
If you can say yes to any of these, TOSS THEM in the trash.
Pila’s Tip: Grab your sharpie and write the date on the product when you opened it – so easy, right?
