If you’re reading this, then I have a New Year’s resolution for you: change up your skincare routine.
It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut with your skincare routine. You know what skincare products work, so why fix what isn’t broken?
The truth is that your skin changes all the time. Your skin is affected by environmental stressors, your mood, weather changes, and the list goes on and on. That means your needs may change seasonally, monthly, or every week.
I recommend reevaluating your skincare routine at least every season or more if you see significant changes happening. Personally, I like to change up my moisturizer/face wash combo every season and then reevaluate my entire skincare routine at the start of the New Year.
Signs You Need to Change Your Routine
Your skin has its way of communicating with you. Here are some signs that you need to change up your skincare routine:
- Drier skin
- Oilier skin
- Untypical acne
- Noticeable changes like more fine lines
- Your skincare products are past their expiration date
To help you with this New Year’s resolution, here are some creative ideas to help change up your skincare routine for 2019.
Change Up Your Cleanser
If you are still using the same cleanser from this summer, it may be time to switch it up for a couple of reasons. One reason is that your skin needs more of a moisturizing cleanser during the cold winter months. The other reason is that your skin becomes used to your cleanser over time and it may not be working as effectively anymore.
More Moisture, Please!
Winter time can make some extra moisture a must. I’ve always been on the oilier side, but now that I’m 47 I’m beginning to realize that I’m going through the beginning stages of “that change” or at least noticing changes in my skin
I’ve been using Meg 21… a new brand I brought in because of its ability to help with glycation (more on that another time). To be honest, it was way too heavy for me just a few months ago but this winter I’ve been using it at night and my skin wakes up feeling soft and hydrated. Not dry and tight.
Make Your Own Mask
To my surprise, I have had to really up my moisture game as well as masking nightly. You can turn your moisturizer into a mask by spraying a few spritzes of your toner (I love the Skin Script Cucumber Toner) into your moisturizer and then applying a slightly heavier layer than you usually would.
If you need more help determining the right products for your skincare routine, I suggest speaking with your esthetician who knows your skin best. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or if you would like to check out any of these skincare products, you can find them all in the Heaven on Earth online store. I wish you all a very happy 2019!
